The warm and welcoming atmosphere of the project invites the listener to connect with tight Jazz-Funk grooves, explosive solos and soaring horn lines throughout. Incorporating musical styles from Senegal to Latin America and combining aspects from multiple genres, the band’s philosophy of community and family is deeply rooted within the music and stems from multinational members and cross-cultural inspirations.

MBALAX
The debut single and opening track of LIBRE is an energetic and uplifting composition that welcomes you, the listener, into the small but ever growing musical community that is TUCAN. This is your official invitation into the TUCAN family.
RUNTHORN
At 8 minutes and 30 seconds, Runthorn is certainly the longest track on the EP, but as it evolves and grows, it unveils new layers with different melodies, rhythms and soloists coming in and out of the piece. The slightly darker and atmospheric composition shifts the energy of the EP as it explores a slightly cinematic arrangement.
IN YOUR EYES
feat.RUBY
RUBY's powerful and smooth vocal sits on top of an equally compelling arrangement, creating a balance between rhythm and harmony in the band's second single release. The collaborative Soul/R&B track is one of two co-written compositions on the EP, with RUBY being the only artist to feature on a track.
LIBRE
The title track of the EP explores exotic Latin rhythms, intertwined with the liberating saxophone melodies of Josh Phillips and concludes with a beautiful piano solo unbound from space or time, performed by co-write, band member and keys player Danny Bathurst.
FIND IT
Being the only track on the EP not written by a band member, ‘Find It’ offers a slightly different energy to the rest of the compositions. The tight drum groove and elaborate riffs in the first half of the track transition into a beautifully open and atmospheric section, supplying all elements of Jazz-Fusion.
FLIGHT
Concluding the EP is Flight, TUCAN’s first ever composition. The raw influences which inspired TUCAN can be heard throughout the track, with open and strong melodies carried by horns and synth, transitioning to dirty envelope bass lines, and resolving with a climactic finish.
